Almond Orchard

Right to Farm

Ripon is quite proud of its quality of life. It boasts a small-town atmosphere with an abundance of parks and wide, tree-shaded streets. Ripon continually works to improve its public facilities to meet the needs of a growing community.

It is also the policy of the City of Ripon to preserve, protect and encourage the use of viable agricultural lands for the production of food and other agricultural products.

The Ripon City Council adopted Ordinance No. 608 (RMC Chapter 16.200) in order to promote a good-neighbor policy by requiring that purchasers near agricultural operations be told of the inherent potential problems associated with living in an agricultural area. Such concerns may include, the noises, odors, dust, chemicals, smoke, and hours of operation that may accompany agricultural operations. It is intended that anyone purchasing a home in Ripon will better understand the impact of living or working near agricultural operations and be prepared to accept these conditions as the natural result of living or working in or near agricultural areas.
