Volunteer
to Install Storm Drain Markers
The
City is looking for a few good volunteers to help install new rugged
metal storm drain markers. Unlike the painted stencils that wore away
in less than two years, these new metal markers are expected to last
30 years or longer.
Every storm drain in Ripon's developed areas is required to be permanently
marked with a message stating "No Dumping - Drains to Creek".
There are still many existing storm drains that need to be labeled. The
City will provide all the materials needed.
The markers are installed using a metal fastener and adhesive glue.
First a hole is drilled in the concrete curb. Then, a metal sleeve is
inserted in the hole. Next, adhesive is applied to the back of the marker.
Finally, the marker is secured to the concrete by driving a nail through
a pre-drilled hole in the marker.
Any individual or group interested in helping protect Ripon’s
rivers by installing these markers may volunteer by calling the Ripon
Engineering Department at (209) 599-2108.
All volunteers will be required to complete and return the City of
Ripon waiver form and must be 14 years or older.
