[ARCHIVED] Stanislaus River Bridge Repair Update

Tree across Bridge

In October 2023, the Stanislaus River Bike & Pedestrian Bridge sustained severe damage from a tree falling and landing on the bridge during a powerful windstorm.  An inspection was performed by a licensed structural engineer following the damage and determined the bridge was not safe for public use.

After considering a number of options, it was determined the only feasible option to repair the bridge was to construct a new bridge segment to replace the segment that was damaged.  The new bridge segment is scheduled to be completed and delivered by late 2024 or early 2025.

The cost of the repairs was shared between the City of Ripon, Stanislaus County, and the San Joaquin Council of Governments. This collaboration underscores the importance of restoring the bridge to a safe and functional state for the benefit of all community members who rely on it for pedestrian and cycling activities.
